West Virginia Pulls off Three Game Sweep in Spain

Published

on

This afternoon, the West Virginia men’s basketball team played their third and final game of their trip to Spain and defeated the Barcelona All-Stars 98-67.

West Virginia center Derek Culver had his best game by leading the team with 26 points and 12 rebounds, while fellow center Logan Routt backed that up with 20 points and 10 rebounds. The two were extremely dominant and efficient in the paint.

Guard Chase Harler had 14 points and three steals and JUCO transfer Taz Sherman also finished with three steals and nine points.

Freshman guard Miles “Deuce” McBride and senior big man Logan Routt had solid performances in all three games, which was a pleasant surprise. Routt will likely be subbing off the bench for Oscar Tshiebwe or Derek Culver, but to see his production take a major step is huge for head coach Bob Huggins. McBride has great athleticism and will add depth to the guard position behind Jordan McCabe and Jermaine Haley.

The Mountaineers won all three games by a combined score of 310-186 and won by an average of 41.3 points per game.
