WVU men’s basketball released its full non-conference schedule for the 2024-25 season on Tuesday morning. West Virginia and Pitt officially have a date for the Backyard Brawl and more have been added to the schedule.

This year’s edition of the Backyard Brawl will take place on Friday, Nov. 15 at the Petersen Events Center. Pitt ended a six-game losing streak last year as the Panthers defeated WVU 80-63. Former Pitt forward Blake Hinson finished with 29 points on 9-of-15 shooting from three.

Also new to the schedule: Bethune-Cookman will visit West Virginia on Saturday, Dec. 14. It marks the second time the two schools are matching up with each other. The Mountaineers defeated Bethune-Cookman 97-44 back in 2015.

West Virginia will host the University of Charleston’s team on Friday, Oct. 18 in an exhibition game. UC is entering its first season with James Long, former WVU guard, as the head coach.

WVU is entering year one with head coach Darian DeVries. DeVries and his new staff are looking to build a new era of Mountaineer basketball.

West Virginia’s transfer class is highlighted by Tucker DeVries (F – Drake) and Javon Small (G – Oklahoma State). Both DeVries and Small have been ranked highly in the transfer databases, including The Portal Report’s database with DeVries at No. 1 overall.

The new Mountaineer staff have rounded out the roster with Toby Okani (G – UIC), Sencire Harris (G – Illinois), Amani Hansberry (F – Illinois), Eduardo Andre (C – Fresno State), Joseph Yesufu (G – Washington State) and Jayden Stone (G – Detroit Mercy).

West Virginia has 11 scholarship players on the roster with two spots available for the 2024-25 season if they choose to use them.
