Best Virginia Finalizes Roster With 3 New Players, Jevon Carter Joins Staff

According to TBT’s website, Best Virginia has finalized their roster for the 2022 tournament. The West Virginia basketball alumni team will welcome D’Angelo Hunter, Jermaine Haley and Kaleb Wesson as players, as well as Jevon Carter as a coaching assistant.

These final moves complete the Best Virginia roster for the TBT tournament in July.

Hunter joins Best Virginia after spending his junior year at West Virginia during the Press Virginia era. The Louisville native went on to play at Nicholls State for his last year of eligibility in college. Haley spent two seasons at WVU, appearing in 66 games and starting in 54. After he graduated from WVU, Haley gone on to have a successful professional career in Canada.

Wesson makes history on Best Virginia, becoming the first non-West Virginia affiliated player to join the team. Jamel Morris and Tanner McGrew have joined the team over the past two years as the first non-WVU alumni but they played at other universities in the state. Wesson played at Ohio State from 2017-20, helping the Buckeyes to two NCAA Tournament appearances. The Ohio native averaged 14.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game during his junior year.

Carter will join head coach James Long and assistant Dave Tallman on the staff. Carter just completed his fifth NBA season, playing with the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks.

Best Virginia is returning to Charleston, West Virginia in July to co-host one region of the TBT tournament with Herd That, Marshall’s alumni team. The Charleston region will run from July 24-27. The link for tickets for the 2022 TBT can be found here.
