WVU Volleyball Adds Two New Transfers from Wisconsin, Louisville

WVU Volleyball Adds Two New Transfers rom Wisconsin and Louisville

WVU Volleyball is changing under new head coach Jen Greeny, who added two new transfers to the program this week.

The two incoming players are Sydney Reed, a libero from Wisconsin, and Alexis Finnvold, a setter from Louisville. The two players mark the first two transfers under Greeny, who will look to improve a program that has seen little success in recent years.

Reed started her career at North Carolina, playing in seven matches in 2020. She made a career high five digs in a loss to Duke in October 2020 and then four digs in a win against Virginia in November of that year.

She would spend the next three years at Wisconsin, playing in just 12 matches and 14 sets. Reed played in nine sets and seven matches in 2023, with three service aces, two service errors, one assist and three digs.

Reed hails from Glenelg, Md. and played for Flint Hill School in Oakton, Va. She has one year of eligibility, joining WVU as a graduate transfer.

Finnvold spent the past two seasons with Louisville, serving as a member of the team that made the National Title game in 2022 and the Elite Eight last season. She redshirted her first season in 2022 and then played just three matches and four sets this past season. Finnovld made three assists in a win over Northern Kentucky on Sept. 2 and then played two sets, providing a service ace in a win over Syracuse on Sept. 22.

She came from Boca Raton, Fla. and played for Boca Raton Community High School. She has three years left of eligibility.
