WVU Women’s Soccer Enjoys Big Jump in Coaches Poll
The WVU women’s soccer team jumped 15 spots in this week’s United Soccer Coaches poll, coming in at No. 7 in the weekly poll, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
The Mountaineers’ top-10 ranking marks their highest ranking in the poll since reaching No. 5 on April 20, 2021, during the 2020-21 split COVID season. Additionally, WVU is the highest-ranked Big 12 Conference team in this week’s poll, as Colorado is slated at No. 12, UCF and BYU are No. 14 and 15, respectively, and Kansas rounds out the conference teams at No. 17.
West Virginia earns the top-10 ranking after coming off a thrilling, 2-0 victory over then-No. 23 Penn State on Aug. 20. The Mountaineers beat the Nittany Lions for the first time since 2017 before going on to beat Duquesne on Aug. 23 and get off to a 3-0 start for the first time since 2017.
Of note, WVU is now 15-0-3 in its last 18 regular season matches, dating back to Aug. 28, 2025.
Up next, West Virginia prepares for its first road trip of the year, traveling to compete against Princeton on Thursday, Aug. 27. Kickoff at Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium in Princeton, New Jersey, is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
