WVU Volleyball Adds Auburn Transfer OH Cassidy Tanton
WVU Volleyball added a new piece to their 2024 squad in Auburn transfer outside hitter Cassidy Tanton on Tuesday. Tanton announced her commitment to the program on her Instagram.
Tanton spent the past three seasons with Auburn, redshirting her first season in 2021. She made appearances 19 matches as a redshirt first-year in 2022, playing in 58 sets, making 12 kills and hitting .147. She also had 11 service aces to 28 service errors that season, while making 19 digs in the back row.
She played in just one set last season, while the Tigers made it to their second consecutive NCAA Tournament and finishing with a 20-10 overall and 10-8 ACC record.
Joining the Mountaineers will give Tanton far more playing time and, joining rising senior Hailey Green, rising junior Quincey Cole and incoming first-year Brooke McCall as outside hitters on the 2024 roster.
She is also the third player to come in as a transfer for WVU volleyball, with rising graduate student libero Sydney Reed coming from Wisconsin and rising redshirt sophomore setter Alexis Finnvold coming from Louisville.
Tanton has two years left of eligibility, time that new head coach Jen Greeny will have to develop her and the rest of the roster into a solid program in the coming future.
