Big 12 Names WVU Punter Oliver Straw Special Teams Player of the Week
One of the worst days possible for the West Virginia football team is actually being rewarded. The Big 12 has named WVU punter Oliver Straw the Special Teams Player of the Week for his individual performance in the loss to Texas Tech.
With the offense unable to get going, Straw saw the field as much as anyone on Saturday. The Australian had 5 punts in the game, averaging 46.6 yards per punt. He even had a booming 63-yarder as his longest and best of the day.

Straw is a freshman and came to Morgantown this year to see if his style could work at the major college level. This is obviously a nice honor for Straw, but probably not the type of recognition the team wants him to receive again since a game garnering that many punts usually signals a sluggish day offensively.
