Ferns appears to be out for the season

Published

According to multiple reports, DubVNation.com has learned that redshirt freshman linebacker Brendan Ferns will likely miss the remainder of the season with a torn AC joint (separated shoulder). The talented linebacker was forced to redshirt in 2016 due to a torn ACL injury. I absolutely feel for this kid, but I have no doubt that he will be back and better than ever when he does return. Ferns lines up to potentially be the future stud of the linebacking corps.

Furthermore, this spells more trouble for an already depleted defense and thin linebacker group whom is already dealing with injury issues of its own. It does appear that redshirt sophomore David Long is on pace to return following the bye week, but this injury news takes a major hit to the depth chart for sure. Look for guys such as Hodari Christian, Quondarius Qualls and Adam Hensley to potentially earn more playing time in Ferns’ absence.
