Former WVU QB Will “Goose” Crowder has been named the Troy starter for the upcoming season, the program announced.

Crowder is entering his second season with the Trojans, his first under new head coach Gerad Parker, who was West Virginia’s offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach from 2020-21.

Last season at Troy, Crowder appeared in 14 games on special teams and five games as quarterback. Crowder threw for 49 yards on 5-of-6 passing vs. Kansas State.

After spending two years at WVU, Crowder entered the transfer portal in December 2022.

Crowder was part of the 2021 class and received an academic redshirt his first season, although he did play very briefly against FCS opponent Long Island.

Crowder appeared in WVU’s FCS game against Towson in 2022. Crowder left WVU with a perfect completion percentage of 8-for-8 passes for 85 yards.
