WVU Football safety Tahj Ra-El with ODU

About a week after withdrawing his commitment to WVU, transfer safety Tahj Ra-El says he has a new college home. He has committed to Memphis.

This completes a period that saw Ra-El visit WVU, tell reporters how “great” the visit was, announce a commitment to the Mountaineers and now change his mind a day later.

Ra-El announced his plans to transfer on Dec. 30, simply posting a screenshot of Old Dominion submitting his transfer request. The Charlotte, North Carolina native has one year of eligibility remaining.

Ra-El recorded 84 total tackles, six pass deflections, 5.5 tackles for a loss, and one interception in 2023. He has 132 tackles in three years at ODU. He ended up picking WVU over Big 12 foe Cincinnati.
