MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – It’s possible WVU fans will watch a Devine impact the Mountaineers once again. After a redshirt season in 2024 at Jacksonville State and then not seeing the field last season, Andre Devine, son of WVU legend Noel Devine, could be poised to finally earn his time this year.

West Virginia head coach Rich Rodriguez even said as much while discussing what happened at a spring practice on April 8.

And as far as how Devine may see the field and make an impact, Rodriguez confirmed Devine is in the mix to be among West Virginia’s returners. He admitted Devine “has shown a lot” so far throughout the spring.

However, heโ€™s behind more other guys on the punt return team than for kickoffs, meaning he will be more likely to be involved in kickoffs than punt returns this fall.

WVU hired Noel Devine to serve as an offensive analyst on Rodriguezโ€™s staff early in the 2025 offseason, news reported first by WV Sports Now.

More backstoryโ€ฆ.

Andre Devine is a product of North Ft. Meyers High School.

When WVU failed to sign him on National Signing Day in December of 2023, the WVU Sports Hall of Famer unleashed on the old staff. But once his son landed with Rodriguez, Noel sounded satisfied with how everything turned out at that time.

โ€œProud moment yesterday seeing my son Andre sign to JSU! Thank you Coach Rod and your coaching staff for welcoming my son with open arms. This means a lot to me and my family my son found a home. The Devine legacy continues with the same culture and traditions Rich Rod taught me,โ€ Noel Devine said on X (Twitter) after Andre signed with Jacksonville State in February of 2024.

As a high school recruit, Andre Devine also held offers from FAU, USF and even the other Division I West Virginia based school in Marshall.
