Miles McBride Continues Productive Start to Season, Helping Knicks to First Win

Miles McBride wasn’t as productive in the Knicks’ home debut as he was in the season opener, but he also didn’t have to be. New York picked up their first win of the season on Friday night, beating the Indian Pacers 123-98.

After scoring 20 points on Tuesday night, McBride resisted only eight in 20 minutes off the bench at Madison Square Garden. But to his credit, McBride was efficient again, shooting 3-for-4 from the field and 2-for-2 from three. He was also a +7 in the win after enduring a -18 in the loss.

The win evens New York’s record to 1-1 through two games and gets some revenge on Indiana for eliminating the Knicks in the second of the 2024 postseason in May.

McBride was even heard offering words of encouragement to Knicks rookie Ariel Hukporti before the game.

McBride wrapped up his third NBA season for the Knicks in May, falling to the Indiana Pacers in game seven of the Eastern Conference semifinals. McBride saw increased play, including starting during the playoffs. McBride averaged 8.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists through 68 regular season games and 11.0 points on 44% shooting in 26.7 minutes per contest in the playoffs.

Last December, McBride signed a $13 million extension with the Knicks over the next three years. The Knicks traded away several players throughout the season, allowing McBride to pick up more minutes in the rotation.

McBride played two seasons at West Virginia from 2019-21, leading the Mountaineers to an NCAA Tournament appearance during his sophomore year. McBride averaged 15.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.9 steals per game at WVU.
