It indeed was a special Thanksgiving for West Virginia offensive lineman Nick Malone.

Mountaineers head coach Neal Brown asked Malone what he was thankful for, to which Malone answered, “I’m thankful for my family, all of you guys included, and being able to represent West Virginia. Being here growing up and wearing the jersey.”

Assistant head coach Matt Moore followed by telling Malone he forgot one thing to be thankful for. It was then Malone’s picture was displayed on the endzone video board, saying “Nick Malone, You’re on Scholarship”, igniting a cheer from the Mountaineer players.

A redshirt sophomore hailing from Morgantown, Malone was the 2022 Tommy Nickolich Award Winner, signifying West Virginia’s most outstanding walk-on.

Malone has played in all 11 games for the Mountaineers this season after seeing action in 13 games last year, earning one start against Oklahoma State.
