Mountaineers offer 2021 pass rusher with West Virginia ties

The Mountaineers coaching staff continue to dig into the state of Virginia by offering class of 2021 defensive end Kelvin Gilliam of Richmond.

Gilliam said he was “very excited” that defensive line coach Jordan Lesley reached out to him and also said “when he offered me it was a great feeling.”

This was the first time Gilliam had a conversation with coach Lesley and it seemed to have gone fairly well. “He seems like a fired up coach with a lot of enthusiasm and it was like we already knew each other.” he said.

Coach Lesley invited Gilliam to attend the spring game this Saturday, but due to the short notice he won’t be able to attend. However, he did inform me that a visit will happen sometime in the near future.

Gilliam also holds offers from Michigan State, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Rutgers, Michigan, Pitt and a few others. Although no schools currently stand out to him at the moment, he does have a connection to West Virginia and has a good understanding of the program.

“Well for Starters my trainer Roger Riggle went there, he is a big time West Virginia support. West Virginia is the 14th winning program in the history of college football, along with being in the Big 12 and a brand new coach.” Gilliam said.
