Looking into the future has been a priority for the Mountaineer coaching staff.

This time, coach Brown is looking three years down the road, extending an offer to 2022 Nuemann Goretti (PA) linebacker Anthony Johnson.

“It’s a dream come true,” Johnson said of his West Virginia offer.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound backer says he would like to visit Morgantown in the future and has a great amount of respect for the Big 12 conference and the potential the Mountaineers have shown.

“It’s amazing to play against respectable teams and compete at the highest level. Based on the progress [West Virginia] made last season, I would say they are going to be a problem this year.”

Holding offers from Baylor, Temple, Penn State, Syracuse. and West Virginia, Johnson currently doesn’t have a timetable for selecting a school, but commented that a “family-oriented” program will be an important factor. Johnson also added that distance from home is somewhat important and that he doesn’t plan on playing on the West Coast.

As for now, the 2022 prospect is focused on winning a state championship and being named to the All-Catholic Team.
