Bob Huggins

Now that WVU has announced their final decision and punishment for men’s basketball head coach Bob Huggins, the reaction are sure to be all over the place.

Some fans and media members have already voiced their displeasure in West Virginia, claiming the punishment to Huggins is not severe enough and that he should’ve been fired. There are also those who feel WVU went too far and are defending Huggins.

Huggins will remain the head coach at West Virginia, the University announced on Wednesday. Huggins will face a three-game suspension and a $1M reduction to his contract. Huggins will also do sensitivity training, working with the LGBTQ community.

Huggins’ current contract has been amended from a multi-year agreement to a year-by-year agreement that will begin on May 10, 2023, and end on April 30, 2024.

WVU president E. Gordon Gee, director of athletics Wren Baker released a joint statement to follow the announcement of the punishment. Huggins offered a more detail letter of apology to follow the one he sent out soon after the news broke on Monday.

A situation like this was destined to generate a polarizing reaction no matter what. With that said, we want to ask you, our readers and members of Mountaineer Nation, how you feel about how WVU handled this situation? Did the school get it right?
