Johns, a redshirt sophomore, came to WVU as a safety before being converted to wide receiver. He redshirted as a true freshman and converted to receiver that Spring.
Coming out of North Penn High School, the North Wales, Pennsylvania native was a highly regarded safety prospect. ESPN rated Johns as a three-star recruit and the number 16 safety in Pennsylvania.
Johns saw time in three games last season, logging a career-high six snaps against Youngstown State.
Johns is the second Mountaineer to officially enter the transfer portal this season after receiver Tevin Bush did so midway through October.
