Report: Huggins, Pitino to Meet in 2023 Big East-Big 12 Battle

As sources told Jon Rothstein, West Virginia will host St. John’s in the 2023 Big East-Big 12 Battle. This would mark the first time since February 2012 that Bob Huggins and Rick Pitino have matched up against each other.

West Virginia and St. John’s matched up at Madison Square Garden back in 2019 when the Red Storm won 70-68. SJU was coached by Mike Anderson, who was let go last month. Pitino is now back in charge.

Another storyline to keep track of is WVU guards Jose Perez and Omar Silverio will play against their former Manhattan head coach Steve Masiello, who now is at SJU under Pitino.

WVU currently adds another game to their non-conference schedule with Pitt, UMass and an invitational to Fort Myers highlighting the slate.
