Report: WVU Basketball to Host Boise State Transfer Forward
With the season now over and the transfer portal open, the WVU basketball staff are working on building Ross Hodge’s second Mountaineer roster.
On Tuesday, Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reported that Boise State transfer forward Javan Buchanan will visit West Virginia sometime later in the week.
The 6-foot-7, 230-pound veteran forward spent the past two seasons with the Broncos after transferring from the NAIA level. Buchanan averaged 12.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game during the 2025-26 season. He appeared in 37 games and was named the Mountain West Sixth Man of the Year.
With one year left of eligibility, Buchanan, an Lafayette, Ind. native,ย is viewed as a potential bench piece for a West Virginia program looking to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2023.

Coach is already hustling for next year. He will pick players that blend in with the current group. If Georgia Tech Center Sylla comes and this guy, then our front court is almost there. Need a wing and maybe a combo guard. Our future is bright.
