When Will Prince Strachan Make His West Virginia Debut?

Expected to be a starter and key contributor, Prince Strachan was out of action in West Virginia’s season opening win against Coastal Carolina.

Without much explanation going into the game, Rich Rodriguez spoke openly about the uncertainty still looming over Stachan earlier this week.

“Hopefully he’ll be back maybe for next week’s game,” said Rodriguez when asked if there’s any timetable for his return. “He’ll be out again this week, but he’s got a chance to play in two weeks. We’ll see where that’s at.”

Strachan was held out of practice in the weeks leading up to the regular season. It’s possible Rodriguez is using the FCS game as an opportunity to rest Strachan even more in hopes of getting him back for a big game in Week 3 against Virginia, although allowing him to shake off rust against UT Martin could make sense as well.

In all reality, it’s just as likely that he’s just simply not healthy enough to play just yet.

WVU’s first veteran transfer addition of the offseason, Strachan only appeared in one game with USC, catching a single pass for 25 yards. However, he made 25 receptions for 304 yards and scored a touchdown with Boise State. While with the Broncos, he made four big catches for 40 yards against Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl.

Having grown up in The Bahamas, Strachan and did not begin playing football until 2019 after moving to the United States. He then played high school football at John Carroll High School in Florida.
