As Will Grier continues to fight for a roster spot on the Cowboys, he was at his best in Dallas’ preseason game against the Jaguars on Saturday night.

Even though he didn’t start the game or lead his team to a win, the former Mountaineer put up solid numbers and made a few highlights in the game. Grier completed 22 of 31 passes for 199 yards while throwing two touchdowns.

One of his touchdowns was a 15-yard strike to wide receiver Jalen Tolbert. This play was posted on social media by both the Cowboys and WVU football.

Grier, who did throw an interception, recorded a 96 overall rating.

After finishing out his college career with two seasons at West Virginia, Grier was drafted in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. He then joined the Cowboys in 2021 in a backup role behind Pro Bowler Dak Prescott.

Grier was on track to be Dallas’ main backup last season before suffering an injury in the preseason. Once healthy, he went from signing with the Cowboys practice squad to eventually landing on the active roster behind Cooper Rush while Prescott was out with an injury.
