In the midst of historic SEC expansion with Oklahoma and Texas officially requesting an invite to the conference earlier today, Missouri will need to move quickly in order to replace the Sterk and move forward in the present collegiate athletics landscape. Yahoo Sports‘ Pete Thamel dropped a list of potential replacements, and West Virginia athletic director Shane Lyons was on it.

Lyons, a two-time WVU graduate, has been at the helm of WVU athletics since 2015 and has succeeded at leading the Mountaineers in the Big 12 since. He has overseen numerous projects to bolster WVU athletics presently and set the program up for success down the line.
His next task will be to navigate the upcoming realignment craze in collegiate athletics and steer WVU toward continued success. He has obviously given no hint that he is considering leaving WVU for Missouri.
