WVU Basketball Loses DJ Thomas, Freshman Shooter to Transfer Portal
WVU basketball freshman forward DJ Thomas has entered his name into the transfer portal, per Sam Keyser in a post to X. The Mountaineers also lost freshman guard Jayden Forsythe, per Joe Tipton.
Thomas impressed in his freshman season, averaging 6.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game off the bench. He was recruited by head coach Ross Hodge out of Allen High School in Texas and followed him to WVU.
Forsythe hardly saw the floor as a freshman, appearing in just five games and going 2-7 from the floor, all from three-point range.

The portal era.. where players have no more loyalty to the team than they do to a pair of socks. Forsythe didn’t play much, but DJ was not being looked at by any major program until coming here.
Go make your money, mercenaries… Coach will find a replacement for you…

I WOULD EXPECT NOTHING LESS, IF WVU CAN’T ANTE UP AND PAY HIM , SOMEONE ELSE WILL,,, I WISH HIM LUCK,,, AS A YOUNG MAN HE JUST WANTS TO BETTER HIMSELF, MORE MONEY CAN HELP HIS MAMA, BUY A CAR, BETTER CLOTHES,,, WE ALL WANT THE SAME, IN THE WORLD OF COLLEGE BASKETBALL, THIS IS LIFE IN THE FAST LANE,,, HE JUST WANTS TO BETTER HIMSELF AND I WISH HIM WELL, HATE TO SEE HIM GO BUT HE’S ALONG WAYS AWAY FROM HOME IN TEXAS,,,NOW WVU WILL POACH ANTHOER SCHOOLS PLAYERS, WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND,, THE PLAYERS WE POACH WILL WANT THE SAME THINGS AS DJ WHEN HE LEAVES
