WVU Football 4-Star DL Target Postpones Commitment Announcement

WVU Football DL recruit Nic Moore

The much anticipated commitment announcement of a top WVU football target will have to wait at least one more day.

Nic Moore, a four-star defensive line product of Jefferson County High School in Dandridge, Tenn., teased his announcement earlier in the day, but has now changed his mind and will delay his commitment until a later date.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 300 pounds, Moore is a high priority recruit for the WVU football staff. Moore is deciding between West Virginia, his home state program of Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

WV Sports Now caught up with Moore after his most recent trip to Morgantown.

At the time, Moore said the visit “went well” and he feels like he belongs at WVU, which speaks to the plan to make recruits feel like family.

Moore’s latest visit wasn’t his first time in West Virginia. He was actually on campus for an unofficial visit in early February. His first trip came a week after he received an official offer from the WVU staff, in particular defensive line coach Andrew Jackson.

Moore expressed how his latest visit was different from the others, going as far as to say everything felt more detailed and serious this time around. He also complimented the staff by saying, “everything was much more in-depth and clearer than anywhere I’ve been so far.”

Moore’s stock is steadily on the rise, as he already owns a four-star rating from 247 Sports and a three-star from Rivals. 247 even ranks Moore as their No. 8 player out of Tennessee.

Moore, who West Virginia views as a defensive tackle in college, also has experience on the interior of the offensive line.

Moore has 11 offers on the table, most notably from major conference programs like Indiana, Louisville, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, USF, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest. Several other primmest programs like Auburn, Duke, Kentucky, Michigan, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech have expressed interest in Moore.
