WVU Football Left Out of Final AP Top 25
Neal Brown’s WVU team proved people wrong all season, but apparently not enough to earn inclusion in the final top 25.
West Virginia finished just outside of the Associated Press’ top 25. The Mountaineers received 90 total votes, but ended up in a position that placed them at number 27.
Having to overcome being viewed as one of the worst teams in the country made it tougher for WVU to climb over teams who were able to stabilize their placement. West Virginia, who capped off the year with a Duke’s Mayo Bowl win over North Carolina, is the only team to win nine games or more and not be included in the AP’s top 25.
If you look at WVU’s resume for the 2023 season only and don’t take into account how they were thought of preseason wise, they absolutely deserve to be ranked in the top 25. With that said, people don’t like admitting they were wrong so voters often (incorrectly) make it…

The Mountaineers now have even more fuel for next season. Fortunately for WVU, most of the key players from 2023 are returning for the 2024 season.
