Sam James Named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week
This afternoon, the Big 12 Conference released its weekly awards and on that list you will find West Virginia wide receiver Sam James.
The redshirt freshman had a breakout game against North Carolina State recording nine receptions for 155 yards (212 all-purpose) and a touchdown. Head coach Neal Brown has been praising James since spring ball and has noted several times that he “needs to be a playmaker for us”.
Below is James touchdown catch that help set the tone for the Mountaineer offense and gave them the early 7-0 lead.

Later in the first quarter, Neal Brown gets James involved on a touch pass that was once famously a Tavon Austin designed play. James shows off his speed getting to the edge quickly and nearly rips it off for a touchdown.
