MORGANTOWN, W.Va – Unlike last week, West Virginia head coach Neal Brown makes it clear there’s no question who his team’s starting quarterback is for their season ending game at Oklahoma State. Garrett Greene will get the start again.

Brown quickly responded that Greene will receive his second college start during his weekly press conference on Tuesday. Both Brown and offensive coordinator Graham Harrell mentioned they felt Greene showed some good things against Kansas State, but also still has plenty to work on too.

“He made some good throws and he made some bad throws,” said Brown about Greene’s performance on Saturday in the loss to the Wildcats. Greene earned the opportunity to start this past week after coming in for JT Daniels and leading the Mountaineers to the program’s first win over Oklahoma since joining the Big 12 a decade ago.

As far as his start by the numbers, Greene completed 15 of 27 passes for 204 yards while throwing three touchdowns and two interceptions, both of which led to touchdowns by the Sooners. He also ran for 17 yards on 12 rushes and a touchdown.

Brown did mention that he plans to be “intentional” about getting younger players into the game since he will not have bowl game prep to give any of them more time. This was in response to a question about if freshman quarterback Nicco Marchiol could enter the game in relief of Greene depending on how the game is unfolding.
