WVU Running Back Leddie Brown Named to Doak Walker Award Watch List

After being named the Maxwell Award watch list, West Virginia senior running back Leddie Brown has been named to a watch list for another major award.

The 2021 Doak Walker Award watch list was announced on Wednesday morning, and Brown, aside from seeing his name on the list, figures to be a leading candidate for the award this season after finishing 14th nationally in rushing yards last season.

Brown had a breakout junior season last year, finishing second in the Big 12 with 1,010 rushing yards and nine touchdowns while adding 202 yards and two more touchdowns through the air in 10 games. Along with Hall, Brown was named a first-team All-Big 12 member following the season.

After solid yet unremarkable freshman and sophomore seasons, Brown’s breakout last season paves the way for a big statistical senior season alongside WVU quarterback Jarret Doege.

10 semifinalists will be announced for the Doak Walker in November, followed by three finalists later in the month to be voted upon by the Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee. The award winner will be announced at the Home Depot College Football Awards in December.
