WVU’s Ty French to Try to Impress 49ers at Rookie Minicamp

After only one season of Division I football, Ty French will now try to elevate his game to make an NFL roster. The San Francisco 49ers are the ream providing that opportunity for French, inviting him to rookie minicamp on Sunday.
In addition to the WVU players who were signed as free agents after the NFL Draft, French now joins offensive lineman Nick Malone as those with a rookie camp invite.
French spent one season at the Division I level, posting 22 tackles and 2.5 tackles for a loss last season as a Mountaineer.ย
French transferred up to the Power Four level with West Virginia following four seasons at the FCS level with Gardner-Webb, where he put up a program-record 34.5 career sacks.ย

French was a finalist for the 2022 Stats Perform FCS Buck Buchanan National Defensive Player of the Year Award after recording 12.5 sacks, 16 tackles for loss and 75 total tackles.ย
