Porter’s announcement comes just a week ahead of national signing day on Dec. 18. He announced on Wednesday because it was his mother’s birthday.
Porter had offers from several other power five schools and made visits to Utah, Clemson, Florida, Minnesota Miami and Washington State. Porter made his official visit to WVU on Dec. 8.

Porter is the fourth cornerback to committed in the 2020 class. He joins England native Jairo Faverus, junior college All-America Jackie Matthews and Maryland athlete David Vincent Okoli.
West Virginia will lose both starting outside cornerbacks, Keith Washington II and Hakeem Bailey, to graduation for next season.
WVU played several true freshmen in the secondary this season including Tykee Smith, Kerry Martin Jr., Nicktroy Fortune and Tae Mayo.
Fortune and Matthews expressed their excitement for Porter’s decision on Twitter.
