A 4-star athlete out of West Chester, Ohio, has narrowed down his list to seven schools. 2023 athlete Malik Hartford announced on Friday morning that he has West Virginia in his final seven. Hartford is also considering Cincinnati, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

Hartford plays at Lakota West, where former Mountaineer Sean Mahone played at in high school.

Hartford plays wide receiver and safety for the Firebird, racking up 24 tackles and an interception through six games. According to 247 Sports, Hartford is heavily considering Cincinnati and Ohio State, which makes sense for being from the area in-between Columbus and Cincinnati.

Hartford told WV Sports Now back in October that the WVU coaching staff has been great with him.

“The coaches watched my film and began to be in contact with me,” Hartford said. “[associate director of scouting Trey] Neyer was really the main one checking up on me and trying to get me to games and so on. Overall, they seem like a great school. It will be hard to tell until I can go there and see it all for myself.”
