WVU Football RB recruit Traevon Dunbar

Even with a strong run game already established, the WVU football program is always thinking about the future of the running back position. And that means recruiting quality backs year after year.

One top rated running back that’s been tied to West Virginia for months is three-star Traevon Dunbar. He is now continuing the flirtation between the two camps by taking an official visit to Morgantown this coming weekend.

Listed at 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds, Dunbar is a class of 2024 Midland Valley High School prospect from Graniteville, South Carolina. Dunbar has been in steady communication with the WVU coaching staff, in particular offensive coordinate Chad Scott since placing the Mountaineers as one of his top six schools in March.

WVU is joined in that group by Arkansas, Boston College, Maryland, Penn State and Virginia Tech. Dunbar had over a dozen offers before cutting down his list to a top six. He’s ranked as the eighth best player in South Carolina and the number 33 running back in the country for his class by 247 Sports. On3.com places Dunbar as the number 545 overall 2024 player in the entire country.
