WVU Football DL commit Evan Powell with coaches

In light of West Virginia deciding to fire Neal Brown, a defensive line recruit instantly decided to withdraw his commitment to the WVU football program.

Evan Powell, a 6-foot-4, 245-pound prospect out of Maryland, posted a message with his decision soon after the announcement on Sunday evening. He committed in June.

Powell recorded 78 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss and 10 sacks during his junior season for Huntington High School in Huntington, Md. Powell, who has experience at both defensive tackle and defensive end, is viewed as an Edge rusher in college.

Powell also excels in multiple events for his schoolโ€™s track team.
