WVU Basketball looks to bounce back from a blowout road loss as they take on TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. Let’s take a look at five things to know before Monday’s game.

Meet the Opponent: TCU

TCU enters Monday’s game with an overall record of 16-7 (5-5 Big 12). The Horned Frogs are coming off of back-to-back losses to Texas and Iowa State over the past two weekends. TCU has quality wins over Houston, Baylor and Texas Tech during conference play. TCU has been ranked inside the top 25 poll twice this season.

TCU HC Jamie Dixon retooled his roster behind transfer portal additions Jameer Nelson Jr. (G -Delaware), Trey Tennyson (G – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) and Avery Anderson (G – Oklahoma State) and Ernest Udeh ( C – Kansas). The Horned Frogs retained top contributing players with Emanuel Miller, Micah Peavy and others.

Can West Virginia Fight on the Road?

Saturday’s loss to Texas showed the rare occasion of West Virginia not showing much fight. The team sits at 8-15 but they’ve been competitive in almost every game they’ve played this season. After a Jesse Edwards dunk in the first possession, Texas ran away with the game, winning 94-58. The game was never once close after Dylan Disu got the Longhorns’ offense rolling. West Virginia’s defense had zero answers or adjustments.

WVU 0-9 Away From Home

West Virginia moved to 0-9 away from the WVU Coliseum this season; 0-5 in road games and 0-4 in neutral site games.

The Mountaineers are also 2-21 in their last 23 Big 12 road games, dating back to the 2021-22 season.

The spread for the WVU-TCU game is currently -12.5 TCU. The over/under is set at 150.5.
