Texas, behind forward Dylan Disu, ran away with the game from the start, blowing West Virginia out 94-58.

WVU (8-15, 3-7 Big 12) remains winless from home, going 0-for-9 in their road and neutral site games. The Mountaineers also move to 2-21 in their last 23 Big 12 road games, dating back to the 2021-22 season.

Disu led the way for the Longhorns, finishing with 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field. Disu began the game a perfect 8-of-8 from the field before missing his first shot in the early stages of the second half. The Longhorns shot very well throughout Saturday’s contest and went into halftime with 55 points.

As the score shows, West Virginia couldn’t do anything right against Texas. Jesse Edwards got West Virginia on the board in the first possession of the game. From that point on, Texas took the lead and didn’t look back for the rest of the game.

WVU turned the ball over 15 times to Texas’ five. The Longhorns scored 29 points off of those WVU turnovers and had 17 fast-break points.

Edwards led the way for West Virginia with 17 points and nine rebounds. As a team, WVU shot 38% from the field.

WVU interim HC Josh Eilert collected a technical foul during the second half as he was frustrated with a charge called on RaeQuan Battle.

With the win, Texas avoids the season sweep from WVU as the Mountaineers outlasted the Longhorns 76-73 on Jan. 13. Unless the two meet in the Big 12 tournament, this will be the last time West Virginia and Texas play in men’s basketball during conference play. Texas officially departs to the SEC this upcoming summer with Oklahoma.

West Virginia won’t have much time to sulk on the loss as they play TCU in Fort Worth on Monday. WVU and TCU will tip off at 8 p.m. on ESPN+.
