All you need to know about the Best Virginia basketball scrimmages

Schuyler Callihan

In case you have not heard, some of the best players that have come through the West Virginia basketball program over the last ten years or so, have formed a team to play in this year’s The Basketball Tournament.

The team name? Best Virginia.

The roster is a nice mixture of members from the 2010 Final Four team and the Press Virginia team of the last few years.

Members of the team are John Flowers, Kevin Jones, Da’Sean Butler, Truck Bryant, Joe Alexander, Tarik Phillip, Nathan Adrian, Jaysean Paige, Devin Williams and Juwan Staten.

The first game of The Basketball Tournament for Best Virginia will be on July 26th at 3 p.m. vs Seven City Royalty, a group of Old Dominion alums.

Prior to The Basketball Tournament, the squad is hosting a couple of scrimmage games in order to raise money for traveling and hotel funds.

Tonight will be the first scrimmage held at the Beckley Raleigh Convention Center with tip-off set for 7 p.m. Sideline and baseline seating for the game are SOLD OUT, but general admission tickets are still available for purchase for $20 plus tax. The second scrimmage will be this Saturday in Martinsburg at Hedgesville High School with general admission tickets also at $20.

Following the game in Martinsburg, the team will be at Mountaineer Pub & Grill if you would like to get an autograph.

Come out and support these former Mountaineers in the journey to The Basketball Tournament.
