Black Bears Announce Schedule for Inaugural Draft League Season
We do not know who will be taking the field for the West Virginia Black Bears this summer, but we do know when. On Tuesday, the Black Bears announced the schedule for their first season in the newly-formed MLB Draft League.

The Black Bears will open their 2021 season on May 24 in Mongolia Valley Ballpark against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. The 68-game schedule includes 34 home games played in Morgantown. The regular-season finale is scheduled for Aug. 13, also against the Scrappers.
The Black Bears, who previously operated as a Class A Short Season Affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, will play in the first season of the MLB Draft League, created this offseason. The roster will be made up of MLB draft-eligible, amateur players from high school and college and use wooden bats.
The six-team league will feature the Black Bears, Scrappers, the Frederick Keys, Trenton Thunder, Williamsport Crosscutters and State College Spikes.
