Brenen Lorient to Return to WVU Basketball for Extra Season
In a new development to enhance the current WVU basketball roster, Brenen Lorient is returning to West Virginia.
Lorient, a forward, is taking advantage of the new eligibility rules following the Colorado court ruling to play one final college season for Ross Hodge, per Joe Tipton of On3Sports.
He averaged 11.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists while shooting 54.1% from the field as a Mountaineer in 2025-26 after following Hodge from North Texas. Lorient averaged 11.7 points per game in 2024-25 with North Texas.
Prior to his time at WVU, Lorient spent one season with the Mean Green and two prior years at FAU, including being part of the Owls Final Four run.
Back when he thought his college career was over, Lorient shared his thoughts about WVU and his teammates in the aftermath of winning the College Basketball Crown in April.
โThe thing Iโll be proud of was that regardless of what was said around our team, concerning our team, we just always showed up. We always loved each other and we fought to the very end,โ Lorient said.
