Friday Night Lights Recap 9/1/17

Tonight was one of the first nights that I was able to cover local high school football. Tonight we
were at the No. 7 South Charleston vs No. 8 Cabell Midland. Thinking we picked a top ten matchup, you would expect an exciting game, but we were wrong on this one.

Starting in the first quarter tonight it looked like it could be a tough one when SC made an opening drive stop against Midland and turned right around and scored. Then the wheels started to come off for SC.

Midland didn’t do anything special per say. They just pulled a play out of the old school playbook and played smash mouth football and just pounded SC. SC couldn’t get it going on either side of the ball with two red zone turnovers while Midland couldn’t be stopped.

The pass rush from Midland kept SC QB Tre Murphy running for his life all night. If the offensive line for SC doesn’t improve, it very well could be a long season for the Black Eagles.

The Final from South Charleston tonight was Midland 49 and South Charleston 17
