JUCO linebacker calls WVU offer “a childhood dream”

Earlier this week, West Virginia offered class of 2020 junior college linebacker S.L. McCall IV of Iowa Western CC. His other offer comes from former head coach Dana Holgorsen at Houston.

McCall was truly excited when he found out that West Virginia offered, “It’s a childhood dream come true. I’ve always visualized WVU as a school that I could further my academics & football career as a student athlete. Knowing that I’ve earned an opportunity to be a part of a special program & school itself is unbelievable. It’s truly a blessing.” he said.

The new defense ran by Vic Koenning has certainly caught the attention of McCall, “It’s a nasty, tenacious, fast-pace defense. It’s a passing conference, so they’re relentless in the pass progression.”

McCall’s lead recruiter is inside linebackers coach Blake Seiler, who will mainly be in charge of recruiting the Midwest junior colleges. “He’s a great guy and a cool coach to talk to. Very truthful we have a good relationship, it gets better day by day.” McCall said.

A future visit to Morgantown is in the works for McCall as he has one set up in June. He is looking for “a program & environment that fits me the best way possible to be successful as a student athlete.”
