Kedrian “Keddy” Johnson’s Mountaineer career came to an end on March 16, 2023 with a 67-65 loss to Maryland in the NCAA Tournament. As Best Virginia prepares to play Shell Shock, the Maryland alumni squad, in the TBT, he says this matchup is very personal to him and a chance for a revenge game.

“That is 100 percent absolutely what it is,” Johnson said in an interview with TBT. “From the moment I saw we was playing Maryland’s alumni team, that’s instantly what I thought about.”

Johnson mentioned being in Morgantown and having fans bring up the game against Maryland from 2023, as it was one of his top performances. While he scored 27 points on the day, the result makes the game hard for Johnson to discuss.

“We bring up that Maryland and I hate to talk about it,” Johnson said. “But it always comes up because that’s one of my best games. So playing them again, that’s for sure a revenge game.”

Johnson has been a key player for Best Virginia, averaging 15 points and four rebounds per game. He scored his tournament-high 18 points in a win over Herd That on July 20.

Ronald March leads Shell Shock with 17 points  and six rebounds per game. He most recently scored 21 points in a 68-62 win over NXT ERA Elite on July 22.

Shell Shock also has efficiency in the front court, as Diamond stone, a seven-foot center, averages 13.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

Johnson’s squad includes James Reese V, who is fourth in the tournament in points per game with 21.7.

Best Virginia enters Monday’s game coming off a 79-68 win over Elite Nation, the top seed in the West Virginia Region. A win Monday would mark the furthest the team has made in a TBT in Best Virginia’s history.
