Kevin Brown ‘Has Chance to Start’ as Freshman for Revamped WVU Football Offensive Line

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – While there were many other issues that ruined the 2025 WVU football season, the offensive line’s struggles ranks high on the list of problems. A month ahead of another season, Rich Rodriguez, now flanked by his longtime position coach Rick Trickett, has a new group that seems to better fit what he’s look for.

Rodriguez made sure to bring in size, experience and talent when recruiting his 2026 offensive line. And his revamped unit, consisting of Nick Krahe, Carsten Casady, Deshawn Woods, Jonas Muya, Aidan Woods, Cam Griffin, Rhett Morris, Raymond Kovalesky, Wes King, Landen Livingston, Trevor Bigelow, Lamarcus Dillard, Amare Grayson, Devin Vass, Josh Aisosa, Camden Goforth, Malik Agbo, Andreas Hunter and a freshman that stands out as much as any of them.

“I like where we’re at. We still got a lot of work,” said Rodriguez about the group as a whole after the conclusion of the second practice of fall camp. Even though he’s confident, he knows they still have a long way to go.

However, Kevin Brown, West Virginia’s prized legacy four-star recruit, who Rodriguez and his staff flipped from Penn State ahead of National Signing Day, has all the makings of a future Mountaineer star.

He still dropped a bit of news when it comes his starting lineup, especially when it comes to how he plans to utilize Brown right away. Rodriguez said Brown “has a chance to start” unprompted when offering his early evaluating of the 6-foot-6, 294-pounder who appears as physically imposing as is possible for a freshman.

But Rodriguez isn’t exactly surprised by Brown’s progression.

“He’s physically ready. He has a certain type of maturity. We knew that when we got him.”

Trickett, one of the most decorated offensive line coaches in college football history and still invigorated at 78, agreed with Rodriguez’s assessment of Brown being on track to start, a big deal for a coach unwilling to crown any until they prove themselves in game action.
