National Analyst Likes Ross Hodge for WVU, Calls Him ‘Super Competitive’

While the decision to hire Ross Hodge might be polarizing for some, one notable national name in college basketball thinks Wren Baker hit another home run for WVU.

“Didn’t want to spill the beans but I think WVU hoops made a very good hire in Ross Hodge,” said Fran Fran Fraschilla after hearing the news was starting to spread.

The ESPN analyst who has continuously made his love for West Virginia known over the years then explained what he feels the Mountaineers are getting in Hodge.

Hodge, 44, has been the head coach at North Texas for the past two seasons. He has the Mean Green in the NIT Final Four as they await the winner of UC Irvine and UAB.

Overlapping with Baker’s time at North Texas, Hodge worked his way up after serving as an assistant for six years. He has a 46-23 overall record and has won 24 conference games in his two years as head coach.

Prior to arriving at North Texas, Hodge coached at the NJCAA level. He accomplished a 146-24 record during that time, highlighted by a 2011 season that saw him win the Western Junior Athletics Conference regular season title and then finish as the national runner-up.
