Report: Eastern Kentucky Game Safe Following OVC’s Decision

Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports is reporting that the Ohio Valley Conference has decided to play football this fall.

Thamel reports that OVC teams can play four non-conference games and then a seven-game conference schedule. West Virginia is scheduled to play OVC member Eastern Kentucky as its season opener on Sept. 12.
WVU had already lost non-conference games to Maryland and Florida State when the Big 12 announced plans for teams to have a 10-game schedule earlier this week. One of those games is permitted to be a non-conference game played in the Big 2 team’s home state. The OVC’s decision all but assures that WVU’s nonconference opponent this season will remain as Eastern Kentucky.
