Report: WVU Basketball Hires New Assistant Away from Big 12 School
Ross Hodge and the WVU basketball program has hired assistant coach Yusuf Ali, Per Joe Tipton of On3 on Friday.
West Virginia is hiring Yusuf Ali as an assistant coach, a source tells @On3sports.
Originally from Canada, Ali spent the past two seasons on staff at Arizona State under Bobby Hurley. He has strong recruiting ties and a network across the grassroots and college landscape.โฆ pic.twitter.com/v7VU9ubotc

Ali served as an assistant at Arizona State for two years. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach at Simon Fraser University.
Aside from coaching at the collegiate level, Ali co-founded and served as the head coach of the Toronto Basketball Academy and DeepEnd Training. He worked in those roles from 2012-2020.
The move completes Hodge’s staff for the 2025-26 season. Ali joins assistant coaches Johnny Estelle, Phil Forte, Jase Herl, Mike Randle and Andre Shaw.
