SEC Power Working on Poaching Recently Hired WVU Football Coach
A month after joining the WVU football program, Larry Knight now appears to be headed out of West Virginia. According to On3 Sports, Georgia is working on poaching Knight.
Weeks after WV Sports Now broke the news of a new addition to the Mountaineer defensive staff, the WVU announced Knight as their new edges/pass rush specialist on Jan. 12.
โLarry has done an outstanding job of building defensive lines and developing pass rushers who can bring pressure off the edge,โ WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez said at the time. โHis ability as a lead recruiter at several of his stops brings our program another experienced recruiter. I want to welcome him and his wife, Marquita, to the WVU Football Family.โ
Knight mostly recently served in the same role at Arkansas State and coached Temple for two seasons. He also coached at Georgia Tech, Tennessee and a couple other schools.
Knight started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Cincinnati in 2011 after wrapping up a playing career at Central Michigan, where he was a four-year letterman and part of three conference championship teams from 2005-09.
A native of Augusta, Ga., Knight recorded 123 tackles, 25.0 tackles for a loss and 13.5 sacks in his career, earning All-MAC honors as a senior in 2009.

This sucks, but but shows that RichRod/Ally and stff are making the right hires! RichRod will find an equal or better replacement! When you make splash hires, there is always a chance of this. This is a sign that RichRod/Ally and the staff are making the right moves, and expect them to continue to do so. Bright times ahead for the program!!
