Source: Carrier to follow Holgorsen to Houston

With Dana Holgorsen officially off to the University of Houston, be on the lookout for select assistant coaches to follow suit.

The first domino to fall is wide receivers coach Tyron Carrier. Carrier attended Houston’s men’s basketball game with Holgorsen and was asked if he would be coming as well. He responded, “Chances are good. I’m back at home and this is my alma mater. This place is really special to me.”

A source close to DubVNation informed us this morning that Carrier has informed the players his intentions of leaving.

Former West Virginia wide receiver and program assistant Daikiel Shorts Jr. will also depart Morgantown for Houston. It’s expected that both Shorts and Carrier will get a promotion and pay raises.

Carrier might have been completely won over with the idea that Holgorsen may indeed make him his offensive coordinator at the place he once played.

As for the rest of the staff that’s in Morgantown, I would expect defensive coordinator Tony Gibson, cornerbacks coach Doug Belk and defensive line coach Bruce Tall to remain on staff. There’s no concrete answer as to who will stay or leave as of now, but the defensive guys will more than likely stick together.

If running backs coach Marquel Blackwell ends up bolting, it would be Kennedy McKoy and Martell Pettaway’s fourth position coach in as many years.

Stay tuned to DubVNation for the latest updates involving the coaching staff.
