This weekend, the Mountaineers held their annual Gold-Blue spring game and hosted a number of recruits. One of those recruits is class of 2020 defensive end and pass rusher A.J. Beatty (6’5″ 240 lbs) of Pittsburgh, PA.

Beatty made a previous trip to West Virginia last month and came away impressed, “I had an absolutely great visit. I felt very welcomed and was comfortable from the time I walked in. The highlight of the trip was definitely seeing the weight room and the food was unbelievable and where we ate was so nice.” he said.

He also noted, “I’ll definitely be back” which held true when he returned over the weekend.

This year’s spring game was the third highest attendance for a spring game in program history and Beatty took notice, “The environment was truly amazing. I can’t wait to come down for a real game and see what it’s like.” he said. “My family and I spent a lot of time with coach Pogue. Got to sit down after the spring game and talk about my next time coming up. Got to talk a little bit with coach Brown, but he was very busy.” he added.

Beatty also liked the new threads that the Mountaineers will be donning this upcoming fall, “The all white and gray ones are so sweet. They really stood out to me.”

A return visit is in the works, but a date has not been set as of today.
