Watch: Tom Brady’s Heroics Lead to National Audience Hearing Country Roads

Published

on

West Virginia fans should thank Tom Brady. It’s because of him a national audience was blessed with hearing Country Roads played at a football stadium after a game.

Brady managed to pull some magic out for another one of his signature comebacks in the final minutes on Monday night, leading the Buccaneers to a 17-16 win over the Saints. After trailing 10-3 and showing no signs of mustering up much offensive success, Tampa scored 14 points in the fourth quarter, capping off both touchdown drives with Brady touchdown passes.

Once the game was over, those watching the Monday Night Football broadcast on ESPN, or those in attendance at Raymond James Stadium, were graced with John Denver’s iconic song to celebrate the win.

It may not have been after a win by the Mountaineers, but Country Roads was played nonetheless.

Recently one of college football’s major bowl games asked where Country Roads ranks among the best traditions.
