There were two reasons Tuesday was an important night for the West Virginia women’s basketball team – they even their conference record and celebrated one of their own.

On a night WVU beat TCU 77-45 to win their second straight conference game and move their record in Big 12 play to 2-2, the Mountaineers also honored guard Madisen Smith. Head coach Dawn Plitzuweit presented Smith with a special ball to commemorate her recent accomplishment of reaching and surpassing 1,000 career points.

Smith achieved the milestone back on Dec. 11 during WVU’s 72-42 win over Robert Morris. The Mountaineers currently sit at 11-4 overall on the season and 2-2 in the Big 12.

Up next is a home matchup with Baylor at the Coliseum on Sunday, Jan. 15.
